MoL : With ‘Prequelle’ Ghost releases its fourth album. Or, Tobias Forge releases the fourth, because after several line-up changes he recently kicked everybody out, including his long-time companion Martin Persner. ‘Prequelle’ has the same structure as ‘Meliora’; a not too long running-time and some instrumental tracks. Biggest change is the songs are even more melodic. ‘Infestissumam’ and ‘Meliora’ are more pop than ‘Opus Eponymous’, but on ‘Prequelle’ the pop-component gets the overhand more and more. For instance, listen to ’Dance Macabre’. With all the more pop-elements Forge seems to aim for a broader audience, which might be better capable of filling bigger venues. He has of course every right to do so and he has always said he wanted to get the band as big as possible. The songs on ‘Prequelle’ are more than excellent, but if Forge can keep the fans of, let’s say, ‘Opus Eponymous’ satisfied with this album?
