Erik M. : Rogga Johansson (Paganizer) vouches for a varied stream of death metal releases for years now . Ribspreader is one of those bands with which Rogga has been producing a fine melting pot of death metal since 2002. The band has seven records on their release list. The latest feat, ‘The Van Murders - Part 2’, now lies upon us. The sequel to, how can it be otherwise, ‘The Van Murders’ (2011), continues as expected. The songs on this concept album, where main characters, The Cleaner and Mr Filth swing the sceptre, obviously fit in fluently with the previous releases, but with a more brutal and crafty grin. On ‘Part 2’, death metal mastermind, Rogga is assisted by guitarist Kjetil Lynghaug ((Paganizer, Echelon) and drummer Brynjar Helgetun (Putrevore, The Grotequery Just Before Dawn) The blunt death metal on ‘The Van Murders - Part 2’ provides enough room for a fresh dose of melody and groove, definitely a cool release, but at times the nine tracks as a whole go a little bit shallow. Fans of the heavier Swedish influenced work however will certainly get their money's worth with this one.
