Jupiter Hollow - AHDOMN

Release type: Full-length CD

Job : Jupiter Hollow managed to impress me last year with their debut EP ‘Odyssey’, a clear taste of what was to come with first full-length ‘AHDOMN’ which just recently saw the light of day. The dynamic duo from Canada knows how to mix their influences well, with Rush and Karnivool being prominent and Tesseract, Between the Buried and me and the theatricality of Leprous on the background. It all results in an eclectic sound that’s as dramatic as it is upfront.

However, I really wonder what made them decide that releasing ‘Odyssey’ first and then releasing ‘AHDOMN’ a year later with almost exactly the same songs (outside of new additions ‘Mandating Our Existence’ and ‘Null Without Praise’). I can only imagine it has to do with the concept surrounding the latter, but I just want to hear more from these guys, instead of getting, literally, the same stuff. Their compositional skill is quite great and I can’t wait for more material.
