Job : “Hey, guys, there’s something not right here”... is what a producer should’ve said after about 10 minutes of tracking for this record. I’d assume that death metal is one of those genres that demands attention and a very clear production in order for the destruction to come to fruition. Oh well. Goddess of Fate hails from Indonesia and plays old-school progressive death metal with influences from Opeth and Steven Wilson in the clean passages. While the music isn’t structurally sound enough, and as mentioned earlier, oftentimes sounds way off, it’s the production that harms this album most. None of it truly sounds right and it makes for an experience where you feel like the album is actually working against you. I have quite a lot of respect for what these gentlemen have put out, effort-wise, but the result is nothing to write home about.
