Roel de Haan : The Konsortium finally comes up with a successor to their self-titled debut, which was released in 2011. The long awaited album is entitled: ‘Rogaland’. These Norwegians play a hectic hybrid of black metal and thrash metal with just a whiff of avant-garde for good measure. Imagine a mix between Nidingr, ‘Rebel Extravaganza’-era Satyricon, Endezzma and Sonic Reign. This means an energetic bomb of a black/thrash album. Killer riffs that are instantly headbangable, a variety of vocals (clean, barking or screams), yet with room for intelligent song-writing and subtle progressive parts (particularly in the song ‘Hausten’). The frantic music has been graced with a markedly organic production, which at first seems an odd choice, but works to create an ice-cold mood. Tight, intelligent yet very catchy; ‘Rogaland’ will put an evil smile on your face. Highly recommended!
