Marcel H. : After a compilation consisting of two demos, a split, and a single the Norwegians in Rongeur now treat us to a full-length album, called ‘An Asphyxiating Embrace’. Just like on the previous releases this one is full of post metal which has a lot of sludge, stoner and punk and hardcore to it. You’ll hear some eyehategod, Neurosis, High On Fire, a little Mastodon and such. Even though it isn’t all that original the band does manage to captivate. The variation within the music is big enough to bring that about and all the band members clearly know how to play their instruments and know how to write catchy songs. That last thing is something a lot of bands lack. So, well done Rongeur.
