Dennis : Three is the charm and thus, Sadistik Forest from Finland continue the musical progress that they displayed on their second album ‘Death, Doom, Radiation’ from six years ago on their third album ‘Morbid Majesties’. On May 25th their new longplayer will be released by the Indian label Transcending Obscurity Records, who also have Master, Paganizer, Down Among The Dead Men and Dutch doomsters Officium Triste under contract. Sadistik Forest took six years to work on this new record and it shows.
From opener ‘Morbidly Majectic’ on, the band immediately fires up their engines and deliver a punishing portion of groovy death metal, full of catchy guitar riffs, raging bass lines, double bass infernos and a good dose of aggression that serve the songs really well. The second track ‘Decades of Toment Then Death’ is an up-tempo killersong with howling guitars solos, then followed by the midpaced track ‘The Hour of Dread’ which contains a groovy bass line and a catchy refrain. The very versatile death grunts of Markus Makkonen (ex-Hooded Menace) sound filthy and fit the music well. During a track like ‘Zero Progress’ is becomes clear these four Fins drew inspiration from Grave and Cannibal Corpse, yet they have created their very own sound, and with the powerful and clear production of this album the songs come out really killer. Sadistik Forest is not the most well-known death metal act hailing from Finland, but with their new record ‘Morbid Majesties’ they absolutely deserve to get more attention under a wider death metal audience.
