Bart M. : Ban Bianca's long awaited debut album is finally here. Those are their own words and not only does that show a healthy dose of confidence, it also makes it clear that we are dealing with a very enthusiastic band. These four gentlemen from Stockholm have been together since 2013 and released an EP in 2015 before giving us this album: 'Put Your Money Where Your Mouth Is'.
As I mentioned, statements coming from the band show a great positivity and enthusiasm and this is quite audible in their music as well. The instrumental intro is not a bad one, and as soon as the second song starts it becomes evident what this band's strength is and what could use some improvement. The singing does not really sound that great, and even somewhat messy and uncontrolled. The music on the other hand, even though it does contain a couple of power metal clichés (but that is what they are for) and sounds a bit chaotic every once in a while, fits together really well, and delivers that great and strong feeling that you want to feel when you are listening to metal. All in all this is not a bad record and Ban Bianca clearly has potential, but if they want to be taken seriously I suggest making the vocals a lot less screamy so that you do not get the feeling you are listening to party music (like that of Alestorm), but the idea that you are dealing with a serious, fresh metal band.
