Dennis : More and more Canada is taking a leading position when it comes to traditional heavy metal. The New Wave of Tradional Heavy Metal (NWOTHM) in Canada is strongly represented by bands such as Cauldron, Skull Fist, Axxion, Emblem and now also Manacle. The album ‘No Fear To Persevere’ takes the listener back to 1985, a time when bands such as Savage Grace and Agent Steel ruled the heavy / speed metal scene with their albums ‘Master of Disguise’ and ‘Skeptics Apocalypse’ respectively. The six tracks on ‘No Fear to Persevere’, the debut album from Manacle from Toronto are a tribute to their heroes back in the day. But don’t expect a bland copy of the original, because the guys in Manacle are excellent songwriters who know how to write a catchy heavy metal song, and the album gets stronger and stronger the more you listen to it. Quite addictive tunes indeed. The mixing and mastering of the album was in hands of Olof Wikstrand (Enforcer) who also produced albums for Cauldron and Tribulation before, and the songs received a really vintage production, which makes this album sound even more eighties-like. All in all a very enjoyable album and a recommended listen for all traditional heavy / speed metal fans.
