Cor : In the early seventies the American band Bang has released three albums on the Capitol Records label, of which this is a compilation. The band has never really broken through to the larger audience, but according to some, this was the American answer to Black Sabbath and the forerunner of heavy rock, called proto-metal. Partly I do agree with this; influences in the line of Blue Cheer can certainly be recognized, but also shreds of bands like Grapefruit, Sweet Smoke, Vanilla Fudge and a bit King Crimson-like prog (together with lots of other great stuff from that era) can be heard. Also I had heard of the band myself, but did not really know the band, and I have to admit this being an underrated band, which certainly deserves a chance. Highly recommendable for listeners into the heavier late sixties/early seventies stuff with a freaky prog twist. Also worth mentioning this being released as double vinyl in gatefold sleeve with fitting artwork.
