Septic Tank - Rotting Civilisation

Label : Rise Above Records | Archive under punk / hardcore

Release type: Full-length CD

Marcel H. : Founded in 1994 by Lee Dorrian, Gaz Jennings, and Scott Carlson. Indeed them of Cathedral and Repulsion. It was only in 2013 that an EP was released and now, finally, a full-length. One consisting of eighteen songs for a total duration of forty minutes. What to expect? Hardcore as played in the Eighties. The kind that is full of frustration concerning the Reagan administration years. And also referring to a band such as S.O.D., not lyrically, but musically. Just listen to ‘Fucked’. Lee’s voice lends itself well for this kind of music. To be honest, I prefer it here a lot more than what he does with Cathedral and With The Dead. That becomes clear during ‘Death Vase’ which could have featured on a Cathedral album. Musically that song is quite the stranger on this album due to its doomy character and not being hardcore. The four gentlemen clearly know what they are doing. Barry Stern (R.I.P. ex-Trouble, ex-Zoetrope) who was the drummer back in 1994 of course isn’t drumming on this album. Now drumming duties are done courtesy of Jaime Gomez Arellano.
Do you enjoy your hardcore Eighties style? Well then check out ‘Rotting Civilisation’.
