Berto : Napalm Death can absolutely be called an institution, not only widely appreciated in death metal / grindcore circles but far beyond that in the entire metal scene. Currently they are hard at work recording a new album and to bridge the time they now release a compilation which covers two albums, through Century Media. Two albums filled with songs that were either not released on the regular albums for some reason or have served as B-side or have been on one of the many split CDs. These are mostly original songs but there are also the famous covers of songs originally by bands like Cardiacs, Sacrilege and Despair.
As is always the case with Napalm Death, the songs are of high quality and you never have the idea that the band repeats itself, although there will inevitably be a number of songs among the 30 that they release now that will be less well received. But it can also be said that this collection of 'leftover' songs is again of the same level as the regular releases of the band. The covers that the band records always match the attitude of the band that wrote the original song and also often have a link to their own work on a lyrical level. A lot of similar releases have zero added value, but this album with the beautiful title 'Coded Smears And More Uncommon Slurs' completes your collection with songs that have been released here and there. Whoever has seen the band live recently, has experienced that the band has absolutely not lost its power and the same goes for their song material. So high expectations for the upcoming new album.
