Wim R. : Volster was formed out of the bands House Of Mayhem and Masquerade. These Swedes are seasoned musicians, and their debut album ‘Perfect Storm’ is a fine example of that. The production was done by the band themselves in collaboration with legendary American producer Max Norman (Ozzy Osbourne, Lynch Mob, Armored Saint, Lizzy Borden, Megadeth, Y&T), so the sound on this album is really good. Volster plays Heavy Rock with some modern influences. The modern influences are mainly industrial sounding drums and samples. The guitar work by Ulf Andersson really shines on this album. He treats us on some fine riffing and great solos. Singer Peter Tenning has a strong and pleasant voice. On tracks like ‘King Of The Hill’ and ‘Perfect Storm’ the band really rocks out. The title track is really nice, especially because of the subtle keyboards. But the band also convinces with somewhat lighter material like ‘Breathless’, love the solo in this one. Other recommend tracks are ‘Babylon’ with its slow and haunting pace and ‘Easier Said Than Done’. This twelve track debut album is really worth taking the time for. Especially if you like heavy and melodic rock.
