Profane Burial - The Rosewater Park Legend

Label : Apathia Records | Archive under black metal

Release type: Full-length CD

Roel de Haan : Profane Burial is a new symphonic black metal group. A new name but with experienced (former) members from Trail Of Tears, Abyssic and Blood Red Throne. This ‘The Rosewater Park Legend’ is their debut full-length. It immediately becomes clear that these guys know exactly what they are doing. The music is tight, dynamic, varied and produced with a modern sound. Complex synth orchestration, intricate drumming and chugging guitars. Stylistically (and perhaps thematically) Profane Burial is best compared with Carach Angren. The songs are build up similarly and the mood they set is a similar “gruesome fairytale” like one. The record contains all the hallmarks of a great symphonic black metal album, but somehow that is not the feeling I’m left with after listening to the album. Perhaps it is the cleanliness or the obvious similarities to other groups, I’m not entirely sure. However, having said that, I am sure that fans of the genre will find much to enjoy within ‘The Rosewater Park Legend’.
