Koen W. : This German alternative rock band delivers their second album with 'Black Dog'. Their debut 'Boulevard Of Pain' dates back to 2014 but never reached our editorial office at the time. These men bring rock songs with swinging guitar riffs and a lot of keyboards. The latter is mainly heard in the opening lines of the eleven tracks. The most typical of the band are the vocals of Frank Widderson. He has a warm voice packed with the right emotions. Each song also has a lot of catchy melody lines and choruses to offer. Opener 'Not Me' sounds a bit nu-metal-ish and is one of the strongest songs on the album. Some tunes start with some more keyboards or even a piano, and a track like 'Get Up' starts with a steaming guitar solo. In the end though they all turn in the same direction and that is simple and easy-listening rock. Nothing more but also nothing less.
