Erik M. : I mean, with this type of artwork you just can’t go wrong. In this case nothing can go wrong for the these death metal guys from Bordeaux. After an Evil Dead-like intro (gosh, heard it before) the EP starts with ‘Self Mummiefied’, the tone is immediately set with a Death-like feel, wrapped in a bluntly effective production. The song really gets effective as if the gentlemen and lady of Bolt Thrower seem to be present for a while. The four tracks on the self-titled EP are bouncing between all superlatives of death metal, but it definitely teases to get more. Cryptic Grave certainly knows how to keep a grin of their own, despite the obvious influences. Very cool is the Meathook Seed (Napalm Death and Obituary members) feel that pops up now and then! If bands such as Death, Bolt Thrower, Autopsy or Pestilence populate your record cabinet, these French guys are certainly worth checking out. Now bring us a full length!
