Roel de Haan : Aorlhac is a French act and this ‘L’Esprit Des Vents’ is their third full-length. Aorlhac plays melodic black metal inspired by some formidable names such as Dissection, Satyricon, Taake and even Windir. Thematically inclined to the history of their region. Aorlhac’s music contains fair amount of melody and folk-like riffing. Luckily, Aorlhac isn’t the typical ale-swinging folk metal band. The melodies are sharp and the overall tempo is quite high. They do add enough variety to the elaborate songs through means of acoustics and even a few epic guitar solos. Although Aorlhac won’t win any awards for most original act, the album is made with care and authenticity. Besides, Aorlhac’s rendition of melodic black metal has quite a bit of flair and the riffs are interesting enough to keep your attention. Excellently executed melodic black metal for those who can appreciate the aforementioned bands.
