Nima : It’s been six and a half years since the debut ’Bulletgroove’ from Dutch thrashers Ripsaw was released. I liked the band’s previous releases and their heavy, groovy Slayer, Exodus, Pantera en Machine Head and co.-influenced thrash. I was therefore curious about the four new tracks (the intro not included) on this “comeback” EP. There isn’t much changed musically and the gentlemen still play groovy party-thrash n’ roll and also haven’t lost their sense of humour. I do however miss the fire and the passion they so obviously had on their first releases, and therefore also miss the persuasiveness. Don’t get me wrong, because the songs are definitely not bad, but whether or not they blow you away or are at least memorable? Not really. Although the musicianship is accordingly and the gentlemen do deliver good riffs and go ballistic from time to time, the whole thing doesn’t ignite at any time. Therefore the songs start to bore eventually, even despite their shirt playing time. All in all a decent, but average release.
