Nima : With ’Wrathprayers’ and ’Working Class Misanthropy’ Voidhanger already has two solid records to its name, full of extreme, wrought-up thrash, death and black metal. In March the Polish war machine returns to destroy with their third LP, ‘Dark Days Of The Soul’. Fortunately the gentlemen don’t show any symptoms of change and it all sounds as pissed-off and hateful as the earlier releases. Musically the gentlemen also more or less handle the same formula, though this time it is the old-school death metal and grindcore that shine through a bit more. It doesn’t make a damn difference what you call it though, and whether or not the gentlemen are blasting on full speed, mid-tempo or lower-paced, because they never lose sight of the fury and the aggression. Just imagine how it would sound if you were to bring old Hellhammer, Darkthrone, Sodom, Napalm Death, Autopsy, Possessed, Sepultura and the likes together, and you’ll know what to expect. The songs are traditionally chugged with great, powerful and highly catchy riffs and aggressive vocals that guarantee an instant adrenaline rush. For 35 minutes Voidhanger awakens your inner fury and your deepest desire for destruction and leaves you hungry for more. And what again applies to me a lot personally is the fact that it all sounds delightfully old-school. So, to make it short: turn up the volume, raise your middle fingers and start raging on this chunk of old-school aggressive metal.
