Marcel H. : Throw doom, black, sludge and a lot of other nastiness together and you’ll get ‘Methistopheles’ by Sixes from the US. At times the album reminds me of, and the intensity comes near, Primitve Man during their ‘Scorn’ period. Well, then you know what you’ll get, nasty crass destructive sledgehammer misery. From the first notes of ‘Acid God’ to the last of ‘Voidkiller’ sixes chokes you firmly without going for the kill entirely. Debut album ‘Methistopheles’ turned into a fine album but has the tendency to almost become a tad boring over time due to the songs coming across quite alike. A little more variation and the next time we’ll have a real scorcher at our hands.
