Berto : Purpura is a band from Spain, consisting of Manuel Martinez and Adria Puchalt, who claims to play experimental post-metal. It is not music that you often hear, it is mainly instrumental built on a solid structure and a nice build-up, so the songs often exceed six minutes. Three of the five songs actually, because 'Remain' and 'Disruption' are two shorter intermezzos. So the songs start quietly, sometimes just a little strumming on guitar and slowly build up to a steamroller coming out of your speakers. Heavy riffs that are not original, but sound great and give the songs a nice groove in combination with the swinging drums. Every now and then the grunt of Manuel Martinez is audible giving the songs some extra depth. A band like Russian Circles can best be compared to Purpura, so if you are a fan of that band you should definitely listen to Purpura.
