Wim R. : There is a saying that goes like “What’s good, comes fast”. So, that might be the reason for Denmark’s Sugarcane to record their debut album ‘Minded For The Radio’ in a mere seven days. The production was done by Soren Andersen. His big, heavy and clear production really suits the kind of rock that these three Danes make. Good job! The band mentions bands like Creed or Three Doors Down as influences, and rightly so. The band also state to be influenced by Nickelback (yuk), but thankfully that’s not that prominent in their sound. Bass player Bjorn Jensen is also responsible for lead vocals and his voice suits the music just fine. Besides that, guitarist Soren Rosenkrands treats us to some fine riffing and soloing (listen to ‘She Don’t Mind’). Other noteworthy tracks are opener ‘Let The Love Begin’, When The Fire Is Burning’ and ‘Ride The Fate’. And, come to think of it, fellow Danes DAD can also be heard through in the songs. If Sugarcane is capable to produce a show as DAD does, they might have a bright future ahead of them.
