Koen B. : The Italian blackened deathrashers Necrodeath are fairly known from their 1985 ‘The Shining Pentagram’ demo and their first full-lengths ‘Into The Macabre’ (1987) and ‘Fragments Of Insanity’ (1989). After a hiatus of about ten years the band has released full-lengths, splits and compilations on a regular basis but those didn’t have as much impact as their previous albums. Now less than thirteen bands pay hommage to Necrodeath.
Death Mechanism, Malignance, Damnation Gallery, Killers Lodge, E-Force, Fog, Barche A Torsio, Cadalso, Hornhammer, Path Of Sorrow, Septem, Necrobreath and Schizo are the ones I’m talking about here. About half of the covers hail from ‘Into The Macabre’ and ‘Fragments Of Insanity’, the rest of the tracks mainly hail from ‘Mater Of All Evil’ (1999), ‘Black As Pitch’ (2001) and ‘100% Hell’ (2006). Necrodeath also presents a new track on this album: ‘Cult Of Shiva’.
This one is available through Black Tears. I really enjoyed this one and you should too if you adore the Italian underground in general and Necrodeath in particular, but I think that makes sense.
