Leon : From the moment I played the first song I know that this was going to be a good album! ‘Static' is the second album of Dave Kerzner, who’s known for his work in the progressive rock group Sound Of Contact. Although I’d never heard of the guy he seems to know quite a few people in the music industry, he arranged a number of well-known guests for the album. Among them are Steve Hacket (Genesis), Durga McBroom (Pink Floyd), and Nick D’Virgilio (Spock’s Beard, Big Big Train)! That certainly promises something good.
‘Static’ is a conceptual album that covers the distractions, chaos and clutter in everyday life and about navigating pas the ‘static interference’ which will lead to clarity and happiness. An album with a message! The fourteen songs on the album tell the story well, music and lyrics match very well which is something that others in the genre sometimes forget to do. The strong songs form the foundation of the album and the musicians fill it with greatness. Whether we’re talking about the atmospheric keyboards, the captivating vocals or the beautiful guitar solos, everything is spot on. Even the production is great! What else is there to say? It’s just a really good progressive rock record!
Listen to the songs ‘Hypocrites’ and ‘Static’, these are excellent songs that summarize the album well. I’d bet that many people would like the album! In March the Dave Kerzner Band will be playing on Progdreams VII in Zoetermeer, I would definitely recommend a visit as I’m sure that you will like this one. A highly recommended album!
