Marcel H. : A split EP consisting of two covers. And, jeez Louise, what kind of covers…
Bunkur covers ‘The Subhuman’ by Carnivore and
Mordor covers ‘In League With Satan’ by Venom. ‘The Subhuman’ isn’t one of Carnivore’s better known songs since it was only featured on the demo from 1984. The original clocked in at eleven minutes. Bunkur rebuilds it into a giant of 21 minutes and makes the song their own. Calling this a cover does not do it justice. It is really a total make-over reworking, restructuring in Bunkur’s ultra-extreme doom style. Hearing is believing and is not fit for delicate souls. Extremely well done this.
You think you’ve seen and heard it all after Bunkur’s take on a cover. Well, think again, Mordor raises the bar even higher with their reinterpretation of Venom’s ‘In League With Satan’ called ‘In League With Wotan’. The English original is a mere three-and-a-half minutes long. Mordor manages to rebuild it into a song of a little over sixteen minutes. Just like with Bunkur it’s hearing is believing here. This split by these gentlemen (no idea if the lady is still part of Mordor) of Bunkur and Mordor is a must-own for anyone liking ultra-extreme doom.
