Marcel H. : Englishman Vorh has returned with Nordland. Ice cold Norwegian fjordic black metal but then from the gloomy rainy English moors. ‘European Paganism’ kicks off ambitiously with ‘The Mountain’ which clocks in at a hefty 27 minutes. Here Vorh showcases his ability to build up a song and keep it interesting for the full duration. Quite a feat with this sort of black metal. The following songs ‘A Burning Of Idols’ and ‘Rites Of Dawn’ clock in at more normal times with nine and six minutes respectively. It all goes down easily and sounds quite clear. That works well for the more subdued passages. Nothing earthshattering, but well-executed.
