Job : Dawn Ray’d hails from Liverpool, UK and plays a vicious, slightly folk-inspired type of black metal. Clearly influenced by the classic Norse bands of old, blast beats are plentiful and icy vocals and glacial guitars are omnipresent. There’s a clear flaw, however – the violin that rears its ugly head from time to time destroys any atmosphere the band might’ve shaped up and every time it comes along, all illusions of keen musicianship are obliterated. The production of the violin sounds incredibly off, and it makes the off-key, fairly childish parts stand out in the worst way. Props to a small-time band trying to incorporate live string sections, but, aside of sounding morbidly out of place at times, these guys are better off ditching those violins and going for a more raw and pure sound.
