Wim S. : Not Over Yet is an international studio project. The base is built around three Italian musicians on guitar, bass and drums and each song they are complemented by singers and guitarists. There are (only) nine songs on this disc and the project represents proper melodic hardrock.
A selection of singers is joining the Italians. What to think of Zak Stevens (Circle II Circle, Savatage) and Charlie Huhn (Foghat, Gary Moore), to name but a few. That is not always a guarantee of quality, that is obvious when we listen to Stevens's contribution in 'Crazy Tide'; what a crap song that is. Fortunately, Stevens takes revenge in 'You And I' which is a beautiful ballad and the most beautiful song of the album. We also hear the big throat of Blaze Bayley on this release: his contribution to the up-tempo pounding track 'Back To Square One' is just nice. There are also a number of guest guitarists like Chris Poland (Megadeth) who can make his strings speak in both tracks with Stevens behind the microphone. A bit of a strange song among the others tracks is the closing 'Let's Stay Together' that would do good in the country top 10. Well, it's a most common album from a collection of musicians who probably will never see each other again after this recording so I do not know what exactly is the underlying idea of the CD.
