Marcel H. : Metz, the band name doesn’t ring a bell at all. Right from the first tones of opener ‘Mess Of Wires’ it is clear that we’re dealing with a band along the vein of bands such as Killing Joke, Shellac, Sonic Youth, The Jesus Lizard, PiL. Cold minimalistic industrial. The cold barren recording by Steve Albini really fits this sort of music well. Vocally it really reminds me of John Lydon. Musically it pummels and takes no prisoners.. It sounds totally English, but after a bit of research it becomes clear Metz hails from Canada. I don’t think ‘Strange Peace’ will appeal to most metallers, also actually not to yours truly, even though he can sit through it all because the music is well-executed and sounds so nice and cold and barren.
