Henk : Speed Limit, personally I had never heard of it, but the band has been existing since 1984. Meanwhile, only four albums were released during that period, and "Anywhere We Dare" is therefore the fifth. Influenced by the bands from the NWOBHM period, and one still hears that. This album could also been released in 1985. It's as if time stood still. These Austrians know exactly what they can and that's playing good old-fashioned heavy metal. Original? No not at all. But it is not bad at all. The influences of Iron Maiden, Saxon, Judas Priest are very clear, that is, the 80's versions of these bands then. Title song 'Anywhere We Dare' is shamelessly built around the main riff from Iron Maidens 'Wasted Years' for example. Question is, who is the target group for this? Because also for this album, we've heard it all before and often better than what Speed Limit has to offer here. But, with the closing 'Affinity Of Souls', you will find a beautiful ballad. If you like traditional heavy metal from the NWOBHM period, just give it a try!
