Owl Company - Horizon

Label : ONErpm | Archive under stoner

Release type: Full-length CD

Cor : The debut album of Owl Company kind of confuses me at first with the intro containing a tin-can combination of catchy riffs, spoken radio excerpts and sirens in the background. After this it continues with something which can be described as a very fine mix of solid grunge and stoner. A name like Soundgarden can easily pop up as a point of reference, and maybe also Clutch influences can be heard. The musicians know what to do and they do their job very well; especially some bass and guitar contributions are very much appreciated by me personally. Singer Enrico Minelli obviously admires Chris Cornell very much, and tries to reach that same sound; a tough job and too bad they've used way too much effects making the voice sounding pretty artificial. A real pity and completely unnecessary; Minelly has a good voice of himself which goes in the direction of Graham Bonnet also at times, and that can't be bad, can it?
