Elisabeth : Wow, what an development the Finnish Urn around singer/bass Sulphur have made in their years of absenteeism. After three less convincing records between 2001 and 2008, nine years later they did a new attempt with a nearly new line-up and I really would like to say that they succeeded in it! Qualitatively, ‘The Burning’ is hardly comparable to older material and this concerns the songwriting, the originality and the sound of the recording. I dare to say that this is a result of the new line-up, but maybe they just became older and wiser. You can expect good and fast black thrash with a slight “humpa” feeling, much less raw and rude then the stuff from the past. There is lots of variety and some additions from the folklore or even some Motörhead-typical parts make the album really interesting. Maybe this sounds a little bit chaotic at first, but somehow Urn managed to create a homogenous album.
