Roel de Haan : I never heard of this Italian Progenie Terrestre Pura before but I sure won’t forget them now that I have! This second album called ‘oltreLuna’ is really something else. Employing a sci-fi approach this Progenie Terrestre Pura plays futuristic black metal in an impressive fashion. Complex, raging, intelligent, atmospheric and utterly convincing! Elements of the more atmospheric side of black metal similar to bands such as Mare Cognitum and more modern powerful outings like Khonsu are mixed effortlessly and combined with avant-garde touches and even dubstep like it is the most normal thing to do besides eating. ‘oltreLuna’ takes you on a space journey towards distant galaxies to see things unimaginable here on earth. Besides intelligently crafted and flawlessly executed the most wondrous thing about ‘oltreLuna’ is the fact that it is actually engaging on an emotional level. Which makes this album rather special indeed. Musical daredevils who are unafraid to explore the world outside of metal once in while are urged to check this out.
