Nima : ‘Storming The Gallows’ is not a new album by this Austrian noise brigade. What we have here is a compilation, containing the ‘Storming With Menace’ (2011) en ‘The Gallows EP’ (2015) EPs, which were released before and after the debut, ’As Death Awakes’. A great initiative from I Hate Records, because these EPs were released in a very limited quantity (and only on vinyl) and were, naturally, sold out for a long time. Some collectors may not be happy with this releases, because the material becomes less rare, but the material definitely deserves to be heard by a larger audience.
Don’t expect anything surprising or whatever, because the music fits perfectly to what the gentlemen have already revealed in the two long players. And that means merciless, aggressive old-school thrash in the vein of ancient Kreator, Sepultura, Sadus, Morbid Saint, Demolition Hammer and similar aggressors. There are of course no traces of originality or innovation to be recognized here, but the songs contain everything one can expect from (solid) old-school thrash, along with the fitting raw production, and the band simply meets all demands. Shortly put; absolute feast for old-school thrashers, who now have the chance to enrich their collection with this chunk of pure aggression.
