Sjak : With the British band Thunder you know exactly what you’re going to get when they bring a new album to market. Also this meanwhile eleventh full-length studio album ‘Rip It Up’ brings us the very recognizable sound that the band has displayed from the beginning of their career and that accounts for the fact that also this record will definitely find its way to the fans. Still I have to conclude that the absurd high quality level of the brilliant predecessor ‘Wonder Days’ is not reached this time, but it would have been a very big surprise if the guys would have been capable to do this again.
Despite of this fact that ‘Rip It Up’ contains eleven very solid rock songs, which are built upon the lovely riffs of Luke Morley and the still awesome vocals of world-class singer Danny Bowes. Especially opening track, ‘No One Gets Out Alive’, title track ‘Rip It Up’, the great ballad ‘Right From The Start’ and ‘The Chosen One’ are fantastic songs which deserve to be showcased to a big audience. That recognition of a big audience is the only thing that is missing in the imposing career of Thunder and which they certainly have deserved through the years on the basis of their song material. Well, life in the music business isn’t always very honest and you’ll just have to learn to live with that. Thunder is definitely one of the best bands that have ever come out of Great-Britain and this ‘Rip It Up’ is once more a confirmation of that fact. It’s going to be an awesome party again when they hit the stage in the Bosuil in Weert on the 28th of April!
