The Ominous Circle - Appalling Ascension

Label : Osmose | Archive under death metal / grindcore

Release type: Full-length CD

Berto : The Ominous Circle is a band that claims to be blacker than the darkest black. This is not a reference to influences from black metal, but it shows through the use of dark themes and putting down an ominous atmosphere in the songs. The death metal is generally played in mid-tempo, but often drops a few degrees lower to the domain of doom metal. Influences are named like there are 'Morbid Visions' by Sepultura and 'Diabolical Conquest' by Incantation. Influences from a time when death metal was still justly obscure with references to rituals and séances, where the soul at all times had to be surrendered and eternal slavery was your part in this devilish play. 'A Gray Outcast' serves as a good example of such a terrifying atmosphere, with the deep voice of the vocalist (whose name cannot be mentioned) may be seen as leading the way. Expect a battle for your soul if you are playing this album, after listening to it you might seem another person.
