Berto : Aphyxion is a Danish band that plays melodic death metal that reminds you of bands like Soilwork, Insomnium, Shadow's Fall and Dark Tranquillity. Metal that is based on the Swedish example and that is no problem in principle, since no one has ever gotten worse from that. By a leading journalist, the band once was described as the future of melodic death metal, but because nothing has come true about that statement, I will not mention the name of its author to spare him further embarrassment. Aphyxion is not a bad band, indeed, their second album 'Aftermath' is an excellent album wih swinging death metal, catchy melodic songs with great guitar work and the distinctive raspy voice of singer Bertil Rytter. The album is actually so good that as I write this review I get even more and more excited. The songs all have their own identity, are directly sticking in the head without being irritating after several spins and will again be a complete success when they play live. The band has already won an award for the best Danish live band, so their live promotion's okay. Album of the month for me.
