Sicktus : After a brooding (yet a tad bit long) intro, Paraguayan band Master Of Cruelty kick off their second full-length 'Archaic Visions Of The Underworld' with the title track, an awesome many-headed hydra of a song, which immediately showcases the broad array of influences that are present here. From oldschool death, via blackened thrash, to some doom drenched stuff every now and then. It is like mixing Sarcofago, Possessed, Unleashed, Master, Desaster and Darkthrone during their 'Cromlech' days in a witches kettle and brew up something that is quite, aggressive, filthy, lugubrious but oh-so-very-catchy. Blasting, driving, full of madness, this just grabs you by the throat. Rambling, rattling, sweaty, raw and convincing. Dirty vocals, garwling and snarling. Lyrically? These guys go by such monikers as Vomitor en W. Impaler, what do you expect, poetry? Nah, you'll get down to earth lyrics, full of highly enjoyable clichés - which just happen to work like a charm.
By now, dear reader, you will understand that Master Of Cruelty, in one massive blow, have won a dark place in my oldschool heart. And you will also understand that the album's title 'Archaic Visions Of The Underworld' could not have been any better fit than this. This is not oldschool, this is archaic school. Love it! The album will be out on CD and LP.
