Winston : How some bands, artists and their albums remain under the radar. The Dear Hunter, who we are dealing with here released four previous parts of a concept and I do not know one of them. The prog rock world is big and diverse, that is proven once again. Casey Crescenzo is the driving force behind The Dear Hunter and it is rare that I immediately get so impressed with an album. As mentioned, ‘Act V: Hymns With The Devil In Confessional ' is the fifth of a total six-part concept about a boy who dies suddenly, around the turn of the century. That concept I can not judge, but the music and the performance I can and wow, this is something special. Lots of atmosphere and inspiration, variation and great vocals. Musically you can find it in the direction of Flying Colors, Neal Morse but also Coldplay (the voice of Crescenzo has some Chris Martin resemblance) and Porcupine Tree comes into play. In other words; musically very interesting. Let yourself be surprised by the energy and drive of The Dear Hunter, I would say.
