Wim S. : Do not be scared off by the somewhat ‘raw’ name of the band. Suicide By Tigers is in fact ‘just’ a bluesy, heavy rock band from the city of Zlatan Ibrahimovich. Previously the four men played in many different rock bands and they the four of them shared the love for bands like Thin Lizzy, Led Zeppelin and Jimi Hendrix. In those years the guys met each other frequently but professionally on a musical level they all went their separate ways. But a few years ago - when singer Nils let the others hear a few self-written songs - they finally decided to start a band together. And look here: Suicide By Tigers now releases their debut album. A fine album!
Suicide By Tigers plays music that will appreciate the fans of the aforementioned classic rock bands. But also people who are into more blues-oriented bands like Black Crowes, Rival Sons and - more recently - Blues Pills (the Blues Pills from more than a year ago that is) will really enjoy this. Nils Lindström appears to be an excellent singer. His voice fits perfectly with the songs, both in the real blues pieces but also in the grunge-inflected rockers (‘Vicious Malicious’). He has both a technically good voice and a beautiful voice. Guitarist Petter Rudnert shows he is a versatile guitarist who masters different styles and knows how to combine them into a coherent style of his own. The tempo is generally low, as is often the case with the blues. Next time I hope the band will add some up tempo songs. The album sounds fantastic by the way; compliments for the crystal clear production of Berno Paulsson (The Haunted, Amon Amarth). Best song in my opinion is 'Fox In A Hole "(Humble Pie meets Black Crowes) in which the whole band rises to great heights. Really great! I am curious how this band sounds live.
