Jori : Guitar tinkering from Greece, nope it is not Gus G! This is all about the young Evan K, of whom even the almighty Metal Archives have never heard. If this was not clear yet, this is an almost completely instrumental album with the guitar wizardry of Evan taking up the main role.
To be honest with you, at my first spin I was not paying full attention, and only when half the record was played already I realized that not a word was sung yet. The absence of vocals is well filled up with the very nice guitar playing of our young friend, supported by a good dose of tasty melodic metal. Completely instrumental this album is not, for on ‘Edge Of The Sky’ and ‘One Last Time’ we suddenly hear a very familiar voice and that voice belongs to no one less than Fabio Lione of Rhapsody Of Fire and Angra. The closer of the album is not an instrumental either, it is a flaming cover of ‘Everything Is Coming Up Roses’ by (among others) Black. Among the instrumental songs, the amazing ‘Orchestra Of Withered Clouds’ really stands out, but actually the level is consistently high on the whole album.
For an in-depth analysis of the guitar playing I have to refer you to the better guitar-dedicated magazines, but as a pure metal album this thing is very listenable, which is often a weak spot with instrumental albums. With Evan, Greece has gained another excellent guitar player, one who might just follow in the footsteps of his great idol and famous fellow countryman, Gus G.
