Sicktus : Tombstalker are a three headed monster from Kentucky, USA and they play a gritty kind of death which bleeds filth. After a bunch of splits, EP's and demo's, 'Black Crusades' is their debut full-length. The trio fire of a barrage of uncompromising salvo's of pure, unadulterated vile and sordid fury. As a listener, you can do nothing but be dragged along this highly enjoyable maelstrom of depravity.
Tombstalker combine oldschool Swedish death, with the chaos and viciousness of nineties black, the aggression of thrash and they add some angry, rearing crusty edge to this. The band call it a mixture of Discharge, Bolt Thrower, early Sepultura and Immortal and I must say, that does make sense. A typical album one should not waste too many words on - you better just shut up and listen to this mean, kicking and biting beast. A neat surprise: underneath the take layer of filth, we find a really well composed album, featuring powerful song structures and a in your face pureness that is more convincing than most releases we get nowadays. Pureness and passion are what make 'Black Crusades' stand out and the band did a great job capturing that in the studio. 'Black Crusades' will be out on CD and (splatter) LP. The latter is excellent, because the awesome scifi artwork is deserving of the full LP format!
