Cor : This album by the Kenneth Brian Band kicks off with some very fine solid blues rock in the line of Michael Katon, followed by Southern rock and country ingredients close to Drive By Truckers and Allman Brothers, and even some elements of spacey psychedelics, but it can also be very small and fragile. It doesn't matter if it's full force ahead or demure, this guys bring it with passion and devotion. Guitars switching between that breakable single note and completely over the top going over edges in a way only Neil Young was allowed until now, to torturing strings into chaotic noise. The intensity of the voice can also bring associations with that same Neil Young or Brent Best; raw, honest and pure. Maybe the music is something very different, but in the expressiveness of this music I can see links to bands like The Drones. A real pity this is "just" an EP with seven tracks (which clock about forty minutes, so as a vinyl edition, it could be a full length album). First I have to find a copy of the predecessor 'Welcome To Alabama', and hopefully these guys will release some more fine music in the near future!
