Wilco : 'Sycon' is the debut album of the eponymous band that origins from Berlin. In their biography, Sycon describes themselves as “total havoc with brutal guitar riffs, versatile vocals, stomping beats and atmospheric synths”. And where this might sound great, one might get a little disappointed when hearing the actual music on this album. The album 'Sycon' contains a collection of ten tracks, which however do not offer such a big variation. The (bass)guitars sound far from exiting. The clean vocals sound a bit whiny and the atmospheric synths that were promised in the band’s biography are barely presented during the whole album. These things got even worse because of the moderate quality of the production. The mixing sounds very dull, and combined with the boring songwriting, this makes 'Sycon' an album that one would not quickly give another spin.
