Koen B. : ‘All That We Had’ was already (self)released about a year ago and was recently sent to our HQ for review purposes. For more information just follow this [ul=http://overcharger.bandcamp.com/releases]link[/url] to their Bandcamp page where it is streamed in its entirety. Overcharger exists since 2010 and has released a 2013 demo that’s called ‘Words For My Ennemies’. The band from Bordeaux, France states that they are playing southern metal. Oh well, certainly not my cup of tea and I don’t want to listen to this CD at all. Such was my prepossession for this CD.
I’ve been listening to ‘All That We Had’ multiple times the past few weeks, but honestly this southern / country (hard)rock style annoys me very much. I can’t stand the slide / pedal steel guitars and references to Acid Bath, Down, Corrosion Of Conformity and other shitty bands like Soilent Green. If you adore such acts, you will dig Overcharger too. If I want to listen to country rock I will watch a nice Shania Twain clip because she a goddess of freaking desire.
Fans of aforementioned bands will reward ‘All That We Had’ with at least 80 points. Others will provide significantly lower figures, about 40 points. If I calculate the average, Overcharger gets 60 points.
