Marcel H. : When you name your band Svalbard I come to expect your band to play black metal, even though the band is named after a group of islands. Okay, there is some black metal to the sound of Svalbard, but it is not the main ingredient. ‘One Day All This Will End’ is a mix of, hold on to your seats, post-hardcore, crust, post-rock, post-metal, punk, noisecore, and black metal. It is mixed in such a way that it comes across naturally and that the elements don’t stand on their own. Quite the achievement. Normally such a mix will fail dismally. Svalbard is the type of band that will go down well at a festival such as Incubate. Well thought out songs with fire to them. A minor point of critic is the sound mix which is very dense. I would have preferred it to breathe more. Now it suffocates too much. Unfortunately the dynamics suffer due to this.
