Marcel H. : Polish band Neolith apparently started as a doom/death band. I trust them on their word, due to this being my first acquaintance with them. That means I have missed three of their albums. Well, one can’t know everything and keep up with everything. Doom/death is totally not to be found on ‘Izi.Im.Kurnu-Ki’. Death metal with some black and industrial influences is what we get. That industrial vibe is mainly created by the drum sound which is very mechanical and cold and also by the keyboards which, at times, remind me of …and Oceans although they are way less prominent in Neolith’s sound. The total package has somewhat of a Behemoth vibe to it although I prefer Neolith’s music here over anything Behemoth has done after ‘Zos Kia Kultus’. An interesting album which have been treated to the right sound by Arek Malczewski. Dry and clear, yet powerful.
