Erik : OK, I have read in many papers that Doomsword is a great epic heavy metal band with a strong influence of doom metal in the likes of Candlemass and Bathory in the "Hammerheart” period. After hearing "Let The Battle Commence” I do not fully understand this comparison. Another comparison I cannot grasp is the voice of Deathmaster (vox) to Marcolin and Dickenson. Well, I own all albums of the previously mentioned bands and cannot comply with that. I must admit I didn't like the vocals at first, but he has a powerful and characteristic voice, which deserves more credit than a vague comparison. Furthermore the songs are very well produced but are too thought through to be pleasant to listen to timelessly.

Another thing I cannot fully understand are the lyrics. They handle about the Vikings entering England in the era of Ivarr the Boneless. Do these Italian rockers do not possess one of the most bloody histories and civilisations to be proud about or at least so proud that they sing about it? This seems so unreal, so fake, but that's just a personal note. I understand, after hearing the album afew times, that this will appeal to many heavy metal dudes. I don't really like it, but it is nevertheless a qualitative great album.
