Remie : Winner of the Drentse (Dutch Region) Popprijs 2013, finalist of the Sena POPnl Performers Award 2014 en a few big Dutch festivals on their CV. About time for We Fall Slowly to release some material and that’s what they did that in the form of the EP ‘Butterfly Guillotine’.

The indiecore they are presenting is provided with a transparent and tight mix. The songs are well crafted and consist of fat rocking guitar riffs which stand in contrast with pleasant ambient guitar melodies. Something that reminded me of The Boxer Rebellion. Nothing wrong with that but after a few songs I really heard it all. This is a band which has not enough to it, because there are many bands who play this kind of style and the songs are just too predictable. The forced emo style vocals that are used are quite annoying and unnecessary, because the singer’s normal voice is actually quite nice.

At the first track of the EP it started quite promising but after that it was quite disappointing. Despite the strong moments here and there the music is just too predictable. We Fall Slowly seem to go for a mainstream audience but loses their character with it.
