Johan Z. : The debut from the British band Scutum Crux serves us melodic black with a clear preference for the faster pace. In terms of style they remind me of the later Old Man’s Child, although that only surfaced with the second track on the album, the introduction was a bit off. The ambiance did not match with the rest of the album. Musically it is all performed very well, tight with a very clear production. But it does lack something, the ambiance that grabs you and gets under your skin. That special feeling you get when listening to music, it’s not there. A well-executed technical exercise, but nothing more. Pity.
